Established in December 2021, the School of Artificial Intelligence evolved from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, which was founded in January 2008. The school offers five undergraduate programs: Intelligent Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Computer Science and Technology, Internet of Things Engineering, and Software Engineering. Currently, it has over 2,300 enrolled students.

The school boasts two provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors: Computer Science and Technology and Internet of Things Engineering. In collaboration with enterprises such as Chinasoft International and Tangshan Tongyun Electronics, the school implements a "3+1" talent development model. It has also partnered with Tianjin Chinasoft Excellence Information Technology Co., Ltd. to establish the Big Data Modern Industry College, creating a "1+1+N" industry and education integration ecosystem, building an integrated "AI+" talent cultivation system. The school is equipped with 15 specialized laboratories, including the Intelligent Information Processing Laboratory, Big Data Comprehensive Training Lab, Cloud Computing Lab, IoT Sensing Laboratory, IoT Comprehensive Training Lab, and Network Integrated Cabling Laboratory. The total value of equipment assets exceeds 14 million RMB, covering an area of approximately 2,000 square meters.

The School of Artificial Intelligence has 86 faculty and staff members, including 66 full-time teachers. Among the full-time faculty, there are 5 professors, 20 associate professors, 17 doctoral degree holders, 3 master's supervisors, 1 Hebei Provincial Teaching Master, 1 Tangshan Municipal Administered Excellent Expert, 1 candidate for The Third Level of Hebei "Three-Three-Three Talent Project", 1 Tangshan "Phoenix Youth Talent," and 1 Tangshan Model Teacher of Ethics. Over the past five years, the school has undertaken 7 provincial-level teaching reform projects, 8 Ministry of Education Industry university Cooperation initiatives, and 3 supply-demand docking employment education projects. It has received 1 third prize for Provincial Teaching Achievements and has 1 Provincial Excellent Teaching Team. Additionally, the School has 2 university-level first-class courses.

The School houses 1 provincial-level key laboratory (Hebei Key Laboratory of Intelligent Data Information Processing and Control), 2 municipal-level key laboratories (Tangshan Key Laboratory of IoT and Mobile Internet Technologies, and Tangshan Key Laboratory of Indoor Positioning Technology), 1 municipal-level basic innovation team (Tangshan Basic Innovation Team of Intelligent Information Processing ), and 5 research platforms, including the Tangshan Research Center of the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Automated Trustworthiness Verification of Systems (approved by the National Development and Reform Commission). Research teams in network information security and industrial information processing have collaborated with enterprises such as HBIS Group, Intelligent Laser, Dayi Technology Co. Ltd, Tangshan Cultural Tourism Information, and ZE-Cloud in areas like big data analysis, laser welding, software development, digital twins, IoT, and artificial intelligence.

In the past five years, the School has undertaken 2 sub-projects of the National Natural Science Foundation General Program, 2 Hebei Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects, 3 ministerial-level projects, and 25 municipal/department-level projects, with 1.67million RMB funding from vertical research project (government-funded). Additionally, it has completed 143 horizontal research project (enterprise-commissioned) with the funding of 13.42 million RMB. Its faculty members have published 30 SCI-indexed papers, 8 EI-indexed papers, 14 core journal papers, and 44 general papers. They have also obtained 24 authorized invention patents, 10 utility model patents, and 162 software copyrights.

In the future, the School of Artificial Intelligence will address national strategic needs in AI, optimize disciplinary structure, conduct research on key core technologies, cultivate innovative talent, and contribute expertise and strength in artificial intelligence to building China into a leading cyber and digital power.
